Why We Launched The Coastal Buzz
Our journey in media goes back many years. From running online publications to building local news projects (even a newspaper at one point), storytelling has always been part of who we are.
But when we stepped away for a while, something became clear:
our region needed a space dedicated entirely to positivity.
A place where local wins, inspiring people, and community-driven stories could rise above the noise.
That vision sparked the return of The Coastal Buzz,
a platform built to uplift Metro Savannah and highlight the stories that often go unnoticed.

Meet the Founders
We’re Chris and Sandy Benton, a husband-and-wife team passionate about storytelling, faith, and lifting up the people around us.
Chris has called Savannah home since the age of 14, when his military family finally put down roots here. Sandy grew up in Fedscreek, Kentucky, and moved to Savannah after we married in 2002. Together, we’ve built a family and a life, anchored in community, connection, and purpose.
Married for over 23 years and blessed with two children, our heart has always been to help others share their stories. Through podcasting, media work, and ministry, we’ve seen firsthand how powerful a single story can be.
With The Coastal Buzz, that mission continues, this time focused on the communities we love most.

We know Savannah, like any growing community, has its challenges. Those stories matter, and there are plenty of outlets that cover them, along with the political conversations that come with them. But that’s not our purpose. At The Coastal Buzz, we choose to focus on what’s good, what’s hopeful, and what’s moving our region forward. We don’t cover crime, controversy, or politics. Instead, we shine a spotlight on the people, places, and progress that make Metro Savannah a vibrant place to live, work, and grow.
Celebrating Community Leaders: The 40 Over 40 Awards
In late 2026, The Coastal Buzz will introduce the 40 Over 40 Awards, a first-of-its-kind recognition program honoring forty individuals over the age of 40 who are making a meaningful impact across Metro Savannah. While many awards focus on young professionals, we believe some of the greatest leadership, creativity, and community influence happens later in life. This annual celebration will spotlight the people whose experience, service, and dedication help our region thrive.
