Savannah Philharmonic Presents “Majestic Sibelius” As Season Finale

SAVANNAH, GA – The Savannah Philharmonic  presents “Majestic Sibelius” on Saturday, May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. as the Season Finale.  The concert will be performed in the iconic Lucas Theatre for the Arts in Historic Downtown Savannah.

“Majestic Sibelius” will be conducted by Savannah Philharmonic’s Music & Artistic Director, Keitaro Harada, and feature guest violinist, Hina Khuong-Huu, along with the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus and Chorus Master,Paul Thornock.

Hina Khuong-Huu has performed around the globe appearing as soloist and collaborator with many of today’s leading ensembles and musicians and was the First-Prize winner of the 2023 Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition.

One of the centerpieces of Hina’s 2023/2024 season was her Kennedy Center debut performing Anna Clyne’s The Prince of Clouds alongside Grammy Award-winner Jennifer Koh. Also in 2023/2024, Hina was a featured soloist with The Symphonia in Boca Raton, FL under the direction of Alastair Willis, for Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir D’un Lieu Cher, where she dazzled audiences with her interpretation of Ravel’s Tzigane when she appeared with the Northbrook Symphony under the leadership of Mina Zikri and Vadim Gluzman.  

Named a “VC Artist” by the Violin Channel, Hina has appeared as a soloist with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Geneva, Flanders Symphony Orchestra, The Symphonia, Mittel Europa Orchestra, and the Musica Mundi Orchestra. She has collaborated with artists such as Jennifer Koh in her “Alone Together” series and shared the stage with Maxim Vengerov at Carnegie Hall and Buckingham Palace. She has performed on NPR’s “From the Top” and was a recipient of the Salon De Virtuosi Career Grant.

As a chamber music advocate, Hina regularly plays with the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players in New York, and has studied with several leaders in the industry, including the renowned faculty of the Perlman Music Program. Her mentors include such luminaries as Shlomo Mintz, Vadim Gluzman, and Menahem Pressler. Hina studies with Professors Li Lin and Itzhak Perlman at The Juilliard School and Columbia University through their double degree program.

The concerts will feature Sibelius’ two songs with the chorus, Symphony No. 3, Violin Concerto and Finlandia also with the chorus.
