WHO: Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a local nonprofit dedicated to helping people age successfully, will be teaming up with award-winning chef and co-founder of Savannah’s nationally acclaimed restaurant, The Grey, to bring one of her signature recipes to SCI’s Meals on Wheels clients.

WHAT: You are invited to a behind-the-scenes event of SCI’s Meals On Wheels/ The Grey Collaboration on Thursday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen located at 1407 Wheaton Street (at the intersection of East Bolton Street and Ash Street). This collaboration combines the art of cooking with the heart of SCI’s mission – enhancing the lives of older adults in a truly special way.
During this event, Chef Bailey will be in the Meals on Wheels kitchen, working side by side with SCI culinary staff to share her recipe for Chicken Roti – a flavorful dish of chicken thighs rooted in Indian and Caribbean culinary traditions. She will demonstrate her marinating technique, discuss the ingredients and spices used, and share the history and cultural significance of the dish.
“Some of our clients may not have had much exposure to global cuisines, and this program is a beautiful way to introduce new flavors and additional cultures,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “Chef Bailey’s dish offers more than a great meal—it’s a chance to engage, educate, and delight.”
As a James Beard Award-winning chef, Chef Bailey brings a unique perspective to the kitchen. Her visit is part of SCI’s ongoing 65th Anniversary Celebration, which includes involving renowned local chefs to create exciting, nutritious, and culturally diverse meals for the Meals on Wheels program.
The dish prepared with Chef Bailey’s guidance will be delivered to hundreds of homebound older adults across coastal Georgia.
