Fresh Bagels, New Neighbors, and a Growing Community: Bagel Dock Express Opens Its Doors in Pooler

With a ribbon cutting, a packed dining room, and the smell of fresh-baked bagels filling the air, Pooler’s newest locally owned restaurant welcomed the community one bagel at a time.

Long before the ribbon was cut, people were already lining up.

Inside the new Bagel Dock Express on Pooler Parkway, customers stood shoulder to shoulder studying menu boards while employees moved quickly behind the counter. Fresh bagels filled the display cases. Cream cheeses lined the refrigerated case. Orders were being called out almost as fast as they were coming in.

Outside, neighbors gathered beneath pop-up tents enjoying breakfast sandwiches and coffee while conversations flowed between longtime residents, business owners, veterans, community leaders, and curious first-time visitors.

For Kris and Susan Talsania, the moment represented far more than the opening of another restaurant.

It represented an idea they believed Pooler was ready for.

As guests continued to arrive throughout the morning, Kris stood near the entrance greeting visitors and sharing the story behind the new location. Originally from the Northeast, he knew exactly what he was looking for when he decided to bring Bagel Dock Express to the area.

“New York-style bagels are my favorite,” Talsania said. “Couldn’t find a good one around here. Now we have one.”

Looking around at the steady stream of customers filing through the doors, it was hard to argue with the response.

A Business Built for a Growing Pooler

When asked why he chose Pooler, Talsania’s answer came quickly.

The growth.

Pooler’s combination of residential development, new businesses, and increasing population made it a natural fit for a concept built around daily breakfast and lunch traffic.

“Pooler had the traffic,” Talsania explained. “The combination of the real estate location and number of people and the growth.”

That growth was visible everywhere around the grand opening.

New apartment communities could be seen beyond the parking lot. Families stopped by between errands. Professionals arrived during morning breaks. New residents mingled with longtime locals.

In many ways, the crowd reflected the community Pooler has become: a place where people from different backgrounds continue finding new reasons to call the city home.

The location itself sits in one of the area’s fastest-growing corridors, making it a convenient stop for commuters, residents, and visitors alike.

More Than Just a Bagel Shop

Bagel Dock Express traces its roots to a small coastal North Carolina bagel shop acquired by the company’s founders in 2021. What started as a single location quickly evolved into a growing brand built around authentic bagel-making traditions, customer service, and fresh-made products.

Every location prepares dough from scratch and bakes bagels on-site daily. Eggs are cracked fresh to order, and flavored cream cheeses are made in-house.

That commitment to freshness was evident throughout the morning.

The aroma of baking bagels greeted guests before they even reached the counter. Employees worked with the focus and energy that often accompanies opening day. Customers peered through displays while discussing flavors and sandwich options with family and friends.

Even as the line grew, there was a noticeable sense of excitement rather than impatience.

People weren’t simply grabbing breakfast.

They were experiencing something new together.

Community Turns Out to Celebrate

The grand opening brought together a wide cross-section of the community.

Local radio station WRHQ 105.3 broadcast from the event while visitors entered prize drawings and enjoyed food and conversation. Veterans from the VFW mingled with local residents. Families gathered at outdoor tables. Friends stopped for photos while others shared recommendations about which bagel flavor to try first.

Pooler Mayor Karen Williams Bity attended the celebration, helping mark another locally owned business opening within the city.

One of the most telling scenes came not during the ribbon cutting itself, but afterward.

The line remained.

Customers continued arriving.

The dining room stayed busy.

And employees kept moving with the same pace they had shown from the start.

For any new restaurant owner, that may be the most encouraging sign of all.

A Welcome Addition to Pooler’s Food Scene

Restaurants often serve as more than places to eat.

They become gathering places.

Places where morning routines begin. Where neighbors run into each other unexpectedly. Where business meetings happen over coffee. Where families create traditions.

Bagel Dock Express appears positioned to become exactly that kind of place.

Its arrival also reflects something larger happening across Pooler. As the city continues growing, residents increasingly want locally owned businesses that help create a sense of place and community.

Talsania believes the area’s growth and his business are a natural fit.

And judging by the turnout, many residents seem to agree.

The Buzz Take

Grand openings are about more than ribbon cuttings and first-day sales.

They’re small snapshots of where a community is headed.

What stood out most at Bagel Dock Express wasn’t simply the crowd or the line out the door. It was the mix of people gathered together. New residents, longtime locals, community leaders, veterans, families, and entrepreneurs all sharing the same space over breakfast.

In a fast-growing city like Pooler, those gathering places matter.

Bagel Dock Express isn’t just bringing fresh bagels to town. It’s creating another place where community happens.
