Coastal Care Partners Host Graduation Ceremony for Seventeen Local Caregivers
SAVANNAH, Ga., – Coastal Care Partners recently hosted a graduation ceremony and celebratory reception in honor of 17 caregivers who graduated from Coastal Care University.

Coastal Care University is a 100-hour caregiver training program combining classroom education, practical instruction, and hands-on learning. The curriculum addresses the physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges caregivers encounter while supporting older adults and their families. Anna Dove, a longtime Savannah registered nurse, served as Coastal Care University’s lead teacher and guided the graduates through their 100 hours of training.
A significant focus of this graduating class’s education was Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Through presentations featuring actual images of the brain, caregivers learned about the physical changes caused by Alzheimer’s and how those changes affect memory, behavior, and everyday abilities. The instruction helped explain why someone living with dementia may retain certain skills while losing others, giving caregivers a deeper understanding of how to adapt their approach to care.
Local experts also contributed their knowledge and experience throughout the program including Chris Rollwitz, Oasis Senior Advisors; Patty Dixon, GHC Hospice; and Donna McMahon, local PT, DPT, and NCS. Each participating class also visits Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital where participants receive instruction on medical and rehabilitation equipment, including demonstrations of proper use.
“The combination of expert instruction, interactive learning, and real-world problem-solving reflects Coastal Care Partners’ commitment to preparing caregivers for the complexities of aging care,” said CEO and Co-Founder Amy Pierce. “We are so proud of our graduates! This celebration is an opportunity to recognize their dedication and investment towards continuing education and commitment to understanding the people they serve.”
Graduate Brandy Daughtry adds, “It has been a great pleasure to be a part of Coastal Care University. This program provided me the opportunity to learn everything from basic caregiving to end of life care. And special thanks to our wonderful teacher, Anna Dove.”
