Plant Riverside District to Host District Live Social Club Featuring Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Susan Werner, Farm-to-Table Cuisine and Signature Cocktails on May 17

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Plant Riverside District — which is widely known as Savannah’s Entertainment District — is pleased to host the District Live Social Clubon May 17 at District Live, located at 400 W. River St. This event will feature live music by acclaimed singer-songwriter Susan Werneras well as farm-to-table sharable small plates and signature cocktails served in an intimate, cabaret-style nightclub environment.

A triple threat with a luxurious voice, riveting lyrics and haunting melodies, Susan Werner has been praised as “folk’s empress of the unexpected” by NPR and “a clever songwriter and an engaging performer” by The New Yorker, Over the course of her 25-year career, Werner has earned a reputation as a top singer-songwriter, gifted guitarist and talented pianist whose style spans Americana, country, folk and roots music.

Best known as an acoustic songwriter who came up through the coffeehouse and folk festival scene, this Chicago-based artist was born and raised in Iowa enjoys a wide range of influences, from country to gospel. Inspired by Texas folk singer Nanci Griffith, Werner has released 15 albums and has recorded with artists ranging from Vince Gill to Keb’ Mo.

District Live Social Club will feature a farm-to-table culinary theme, offering sharable delicacies, including a Charcuterie Plate with artisan cheeses and deviled eggs; Service Brewing IPA-Braised Pork Belly; Risotto with fresh spring vegetables and Parmesan cheese; and selection of macarons handcrafted by the talented pastry team at Plant Riverside District.

The District Live Social Club menu was created by Plant Riverside District’s Executive Chef Shahin Afsharian, who was trained by international master chefs including Joël Robuchon, Takeo Yamazaki and Christophe Cussac and served as a popular contestant on The Food Network’s hit television show, “Chopped.” Originally from Mexico City, Afsharian brings a unique international flair to his culinary projects and is dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for each and every guest.

Signature District Live Social Club cocktails include a Cucumber Gimlet with Absolut Elyx and muddled cucumber, a French 75 with Hendrick’s Gin and Poema Cava, and a Blueberry Whiskey Sour with housemade blueberry simple syrup.

Dinner and cocktail service will begin at 6 p.m.; Susan Werner will start performing at 7:15 p.m. General admission seating is $80++/person. VIP tables are also available for $100++/person.
