Davenport House Museum in Savannah, Ga. to Host Docent Training Open House on Wed., August 26

WHO:

Davenport House Museum, an award-winning house museum operated by Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF). Originally built by master carpenter Isaiah Davenport in 1820, this historic Federal-style home overlooking Columbia Square, was saved from demolition by seven brave women in 1955, resulting in the founding of Historic Savannah Foundation and the beginning of the modern-day preservation movement in Savannah, Ga.

WHAT:

Davenport House Docent Training Open House. The Davenport House Museum invites the public to a free open house to learn more about the museum’s docent program, training process and the rewarding experience of sharing Savannah’s history with visitors from around the world. Following the open house, docent training will be held on September 2, 9 and 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.The Davenport House welcomes anyone who is passionate about local history, enjoys meeting new people or is interested in meaningful local volunteer opportunities. Reservations are preferred, but not required.
