Davenport House Museum to Host a Special Evening of Comedy on Thurs., October 22nd, Inviting Audience Members to Distinguish Between Fact and Fiction

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Historic Savannah Foundation is thrilled to host A B.S. in History: Historical Fact or Hysterical Fiction  —an interactive, hilarious evening where the truth is up for debate — on Thurs., Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Davenport House Museum, located at 323 E. Broughton St. in Savannah, Ga.

“We can’t wait to host the Davenport House Museum’s first-ever night of comedy and dubious history on October 22nd,” said Davenport House Museum Executive Director Danielle Hodes. “Local comedians will invite audience members to distinguish fact from fiction, which can prove more difficult than one might expect.”

Comedian J. Steinbrunner will serve as the evening’s host as three local comedians present six artifacts from the Davenport House Museum’s collection to the audience. Each comedian knows the true story behind just one object — but for every other artifact, they’ll have to rely on quick thinking, creativity and their best powers of persuasion.

Audience members will choose which objects come into play, then listen as each comedian tells the story behind them. Only one story is rooted in historical fact, while the other two versions are fiction. After each round, it’s up to the audience to decide who’s telling the truth by casting their votes and testing their instincts.

Attendees can expect surprising artifacts, outrageous stories, plenty of laughs and the reminder that truth can be stranger — and funnier — than fiction.

A B.S. in History: Historical Fact or Hysterical Fictionis open to the public and is designed for adults ages 18+. General admission tickets are available for $20 per person. Table seating is available for $30 per person (5 seats per table).

Tickets are currently available online at https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/davenporthousemuseum/items/751114/?full-items=yes&flow=1479266.
