Savannah, GA– Abshire Public Relations is pleased to welcome summer interns Olivia Akers, Claire Hayes and Nicolina Murtha. Throughout the summer, the interns will gain hands-on experience supporting media relations, content development and community outreach initiatives.

Olivia Akers of Beaufort, South Carolina, is a recent graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Public Relations in May 2026. During her time at Georgia Southern, Akers was heavily involved on campus through the Nu Kappa chapter of Chi Omega. Akers served in several leadership roles such as Secretary, Philanthropy Assistant and Director of Community Service and Philanthropy. In these positions, she worked directly with Make-A-Wish Georgia to coordinate events and fundraising efforts in support of the organization’s mission.
Claire Hayes is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing at Auburn University and is expected to graduate in May 2027. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Hayes has built a strong foundation in marketing through both academic and professional experiences. She currently serves as Creative Intern at Weezie Towels, where she works closely with the founder and creative team to support content creation, social media initiatives, photoshoots and daily operations. At Auburn, Hayes is an active member of the Sigma Lambda Chapter of Kappa Delta and has held leadership positions including Photo and Video Coordinator and Public Relations Assistant. She also broadened her global business perspective with a study abroad program through the University of New Orleans in Innsbruck, Austria, where she gained a better understanding of marketing strategies around the world and cultural influences.
Nicolina Murtha, originally from Toms River, New Jersey, is studying Public Relations with a minor in Multimedia Journalism at Georgia Southern University and is expected to graduate in May 2027. Throughout her college career, Murtha has worked at Statesboro’s Bull and Barrel Steakhouse and previously managed social media accounts with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in Savannah. She also serves as a reporter for Georgia Southern’s YourNewsroom, where she identifies and covers stories throughout the Statesboro community.
