SAVANNAH, GA – As temperatures begin to climb across Coastal Georgia, Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) will kick off its annual Fan Drive, providing fans to older adults who may be at increased risk for heat-related illness.

The event will feature the arrival and unloading of a truck filled with donated fans that will be distributed to seniors throughout the community. The Fan Drive serves as a reminder of the dangers extreme heat poses to older adults and highlights efforts to help vulnerable seniors remain safe and comfortable during the summer months.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Older adults are among the most vulnerable populations during periods of extreme heat. Age-related health conditions, certain medications, and limited access to cooling can increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other serious health complications.
Through its annual Fan Drive, Senior Citizens Inc. helps provide a simple but essential resource that can improve comfort, safety, and quality of life for seniors throughout Coastal Georgia.
