SAVANNAH, Ga-The Savannah Philharmonic will perform Beethoven’s Fifth the evening of Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. and the matinee on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Lucas Theatre for the Arts.
Both performances will be under the direction of Maestra Cosette Justo Valdés, a charismatic, Cuban-born conductor who is a rising international star. Maestra Valdés currently serves as the Artistic and Music Director of the Vancouver Island Symphony (British Columbia) and has been invited to lead many major orchestras around the globe. She is recognized and acclaimed for her high energy, passionate and intensely incisive performances.
Featuring Savannah Philharmonic’s Principal Oboist, Xiaodi Liu, audiences will hear
Jessie Montgomery’s Banner, Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C Major, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
Great music has the remarkable ability to speak across centuries, inviting each generation to hear familiar stories in new ways. The music will span more than 240 years, with each work exploring how music can express identity and resilience.
