Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that primarily affects movement by reducing dopamine-producing neurons in a part of the brain known as the substantia nigra, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
“Dance for PD is about more than movement; it’s about joy, connection, and community,” said Ray Ellis, Asbury Memorial Church Minister of Music and Parkinson’s Disease patient. “We’re honored to offer a place where people with Parkinson’s, individuals with other mobility disorders, and their caregivers can come together to experience the uplifting power of dance. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability or experience.”
The classes reflect the program’s mission to help participants move together, feel better, and live better while fostering meaningful connections through music and movement.
Asbury Memorial Church welcomes all people, regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, economic status, or background. For more information about the church, visit www.asburymemorial.org.
